Introduction

Imagine this scenario. You're talking with someone about what you should do with your time, or in other words what should be your goals. In your heart you know that you want to start a life of art. What you're not sure is whether that life should be one where you pursue art for it's therapuetic purposes or one with loftier aspirations.

You share that you've been burnt in the past and while you might want to pursue a "serious" career in art, you're just not sure you want it to become "infected" by all stress, complexities, and complictions that come from trying to do what I like to call "something special." Steve Jobs refers to it it as trying to make a dent in the world.

Most of us have had that special buzz within us. That feeling that we were meant to do something special. No one in recent pop culture exemplifies this better than Peter Petrley. I lke Peter have felt, since like forever, that I'm supposed to do something important with my life. I can not begin to share the volumes of rantings I have accumulated which document my own personal torment on the subject.

Digression

It's easy sometimes to look at your life and say, "I'm special!" I've done these things and accomplished these other things, and gosh darn it, "People like me!" All of this is true, but at the end of my affirmations, I'm still left empty. There's something missing! For if I've done "something special" there shouldn't be any holes left to fill in. There shouldn't be any empytiness at all. You should feel complete. I don't. So the challenge I face in making my decision between a likfe of art or a career in art, really rests upon me facing my fears.

Climax

So as I'm discussing my challenge, my friend tells me that he knows exactly what I'm, facing and he has something to show me. He turns to his computer, searches through his files and shows me a video very similar to this:

Conclusion

At first I say that I'm not sure that the video helps much, but I agree to think about it. But really, what can you say after watching a video like this? As you can tell by now, he was right. I've got to finish strong, so let there be Galeria Boriquen.
